Weapons & Early Grind

The essentials for Monster Hunter Wilds.

Weapon pick

New players: Sword & Shield (mobile, easy) or Long Sword (style). Veterans: Charge Blade / Bow. Try each in the training area — Wilds’ weapons are more distinct than ever.

Wound system

Attacking weakened parts builds a wound; trigger Focus Strike to break it for big damage and a topple. Prioritize wounds on heads/legs for part breaks and carves.

Early grind

Push the story to unlock tempered monsters, then farm Artian parts for customizable endgame weapons. Use the Environment Overview to pre-plan routes between dens.
