These are our editor’s practical, reproducible tips — no exploits, no external tools, just better play on a normal PC.
Surviving the First Hour
The essentials for Rust.
Minutes 0–15
Punch trees for wood, stone nodes for stone, and craft a Stone Pickaxe + Hatchet. Build a 1×1 wood shelter with a door (not a code lock yet).
Food & heat
Cook chicken/meat on a campfire; keep a torch or furnace lit for comfort (faster HP/calorie regen). Avoid eating raw — food poisoning is deadly early.
Gear priority
Salvaged Workbench → Recycler (break components for tech trash) → bow → crossbow → metal tools. Sleep in a bag so death isn’t a total reset.
